2016 was a big year. A life changing one. As we reach the end of this year the only thing I really want to say is thank you.
Thank you to all of the people who were part of my 2016 and all of those who were there for us this year when it really mattered.
The year started a very different one with a new baby and a new life. It has ended with an amazing one year old little girl and me looking back with gratitude at the amazing people that have surrounded us over the last 12 months.
Having the support of friends and family around me has meant the world to me and having that support has made me realise how lucky I am.
My family are everything to me. I am lucky enough to have a close knit family and one that live close by. I don’t know where I would be without them. They provide love and support endlessly but this year has been different.
Messages of advice when I have a random question about baby being sick, knowing I can pop over whenever I need to, want to or just fancy a break! And never having to worry about anything because there is always a supply of something when we pop over. Calpol, nappies, wipes! You name it my mum and dad have it!
A special shout out has to go to my sister. A mum of two already she will always be my go to for anything and everything. She is amazing and I don’t think knows how much so. Miss P loves spending time with her and her cousins and I feel I may have been put to shame with her list of cool aunty activities all before midday!
Thank you to my friends, old and new. Spending most of this year on maternity leave showed me how great my friends are. Having your best friends going through the same thing at the same time as you is possibly the most perfectly timed thing ever! A holiday (but totally not a holiday!) where you get to share lots of the same experiences and swap notes along the way.
A big hug goes to all the people who took time to see us inbetween work and their own busy lives. I loved having a lunchtime visit even if it did mean having to attempt to look half human. God bless dry shampoo!
Thank you to all the new friends I have met along the way. Chatting to other mummies who don’t always find it easy, do swear on the odd occasion and have a cheeky glass of something made me just think, ‘thank god it’s not just me!’.
Thank you to all my lovely work colleagues. Going back to work wasn’t always going to be easy. Scary, daunting were all up there but you all made it so much easier by making me feel so welcome and not making me feel like a total newbie. 3 months on and I think I feel pretty settled and having the work/mummy time balance is working out well.
Thank you to Mr P. It hasn’t always been easy and I haven’t always made it easy with crazy hormones and self doubt but you have been amazing and you have been a strength of support like you will never know. You are an amazing daddy and an amazing partner in crime to me.
Thank you 2016 and all who were there. 2017 is part 2 in the adventures of mummy life. Let’s go!
