Looking forward to the next few months: Holidays, pinterest searches and thoughts of a garden.

Happy June everybody! I can’t believe we are half way through the year! When did that happen?

This morning the sun is shining and I am dreaming of summer holidays in the sun.

It’s just over two months before we head off on our family holiday to France. I am so excited about this and taking Amelia on her first proper holiday. We have done a few odd weekends away since she was born but nothing longer than 2 or 3 days.

It will be great now that she is running around and can really enjoy things like the swimming pool and other activities whilst we are there.

The house we have rented has its own pool and a big garden too so there will be lots of space for her to run around.

Another great thing is that we will be joined by family. My parents will be joining us as well as my sister and her family.

I have written about my love and gratitude for my family before but I really do love having this family time and seeing Amelia spend time with cousins, aunties, uncles and grandparents.

There should also be time for us to spend time as a three if we want to. We will all be taking our own cars on the trip so there will be the opportunity to head off on our own little day trips if we want to.

I am really looking forward to spending lots of time in the swimming pool. Amelia has been having swimming lessons since September so she is used to being in the water now. I can’t wait for her have a play in the pool with the rest of the family.

I am really looking forward to getting away. It’s lovely to have time at home but just getting away from all the usual every day things and switching off for a bit always does me the world of good.

Taking a break from every day I think gives you an opportunity to take a step back and think about things. It’s so easy to become bogged down with the small things and worry about them which I seem to be doing a lot of recently. Going away and taking myself away from the situation really helps me clear my head and realise what is important.

Since September last year it’s been  a bit of a whirlwind. I went back to work, Amelia started going to the childminder, she turned one at the end of the year and we have started to get to grips with the changes of living with a now toddler.

I think going away this summer will mark a significant point for us and we can look back over another year of this crazy life we now have as parents.

I think we will also start to look forward and think more seriously about what the future holds for us as a family and our family home. We would love to move from our two bedroom flat at some point in the future. It’s been a fantastic first home for us pre baby and now for Amelia but we really would love a house.

We would love more space and would especially love a garden for Amelia to play in and run around. I look forward to family BBQ’s outside and I know Mr P has dreams of building her, her very own play house.

We want to be able to give her a little more space to play indoors too. I especially want her to have a nice bedroom with more space for her to play and have her own adventures in.

I have already have ideas for her future bedroom and Children bedroom decor is usually my favourite Pinterest search.

When I was a kid I used to go through the Argos catalogue and pick out all of my favourite things for my ‘dream house’. Pinterest is officially my ‘grown up’ Argos catalogue!

I love the little tipis that are around quite a bit now for indoor play. I have images of her having something like this in her bedroom. I imagine her wanting to have sleepovers in there rather than sleeping in her own bed and us reading stories before bedtime.

For now however we will enjoy the space we have and make the most of friends and families gardens. But also look forward to our first house as a family. Rightmove and Pinterest are defiantly my favourite sites to spend hours looking at, at the moment so I will continue to dream.
Now where’s that lottery ticket….
